Entrance to Pescadero Creek Park

Pescadero Creek Park, a San Mateo County park, is an 8020 acre park that actually encompasses Memorial Park, Heritage Grove Park, and Sam McDonald Park. Though, officially, access to the extensive trail system starts on the eastern end of Wurr Road just off Pescadero Road.

The park includes two walk-in camping areas on a first come, first served bases and must be OKed at the Memorial Park ranger station.

Hiking trails vary from the casual to slightly advanced and can prove quite confusing as many trails cross each other and combine at times into one. A map from the ranger station is strongly recommended.

Admin’s note: I’ve hiked and run in this park many times and still find myself having to stop and get my bearings on some of the smaller trails. And at times have come across ‘lost’ hikers asking for directions late in the day. It’s not so big that you’ll have too hard a time finding your way out, but having a map will make the hiking experience that much more fun.

Biking is allowed on the designated service roads, and all trails are shared with horseback riders. And there’s a parking area at the Old Haul trail head with ample parking for trailers.

Watch for extreme fire danger in the Summer months and trail closures in the Winter months.
